Awards and Travel Grants

*We ask that you refrain from booking flights or accommodation until you have confirmed the entry requirements for Japan that are in effect at the time of the meeting. (The JSN will not be responsible for any flight or accommodation cancellation fees.)

*Travel grants cannot be provided if the travel grant winner is unable to give a presentation on-site.

Best Presentation Award for International Participants

The Best Presentation Award for International Participants will be presented by the JSN reviewers to the top presenter among the nominees. The awards ceremony will be held during the Get Together on Wednesday, May 19.

Travel Grant

The Japanese Society of Neurology encourages neurologists from other countries to submit abstracts on clinical studies and basic research for oral and poster presentations. If a Travel Grant application is approved, part of the travel expenses (excluding accommodation expenses) will be covered by the Society. Please read the following instructions carefully before applying for a Travel Grant

Deadline for Travel Grant Application

October 26 (Monday), 2026, 12:00 noon (Japan Standard Time)

To Applicants
  1. Neurologists or neurology residents from countries other than Japan, as well as those studying or working in Japan, are eligible to apply.
    Only one abstract per applicant will be accepted.
    (If you are an overseas undergraduate student and wish to submit a Free Paper, prior arrangements are required. Please contact the Abstract Office at jsn-abs@gol.com before submitting your abstract.)
  2. Applications are accepted only through online registration.
  3. The applicant must be the first author and presenter of the submitted abstract.
  4. Travel Grants will be provided to awardees after their abstract presentation.
  5. The Society will cover part of the travel expenses (excluding accommodation) for participants travelling from countries other than Japan. The amount of travel grant awarded will depend on the peer review score and the distance from the applicant's country to Japan. For participants studying or working in Japan, the Society will also cover part of the travel expenses (excluding accommodation).
    Please note that complimentary accommodation will not be offered, and all arrangements for the applicant's transportation to the venue and accommodation during the congress period will be the applicant's responsibility.
  6. Travel grants are available only for round-trip airline tickets for itineraries arriving at and departing from one of the following airports:
    -Niigata (Niigata Airport, KIJ)
    -Haneda (Tokyo International Airport, HND)
    -Narita (Narita International Airport, NRT).
    Please note that travel grants will not be provided if the itinerary includes a stopover at another airport in Japan. Transit through other airports in Japan on connecting flights is permitted, provided there is no stopover. The primary purpose of travel must be attendance at the 68th JSN Meeting.
  7. Applicants are responsible for meeting all visa requirements and obtaining any necessary visa for entry into Japan. Please check the visa requirements on the Visa Application page.
  8. Tax-related documents:
    Applicants who are residents of countries that have a tax treaty with Japan must submit the original copy of a Residency Certificate issued by their local tax authority in order to claim the benefits of the tax treaty and avoid double taxation.
  9. Results:
    The review results and the approval status of Travel Grant applications will be announced on the abstract acceptance page around mid-January.
  10. There is no age limitation.
  11. Please note that applicants who are coming to Japan for another meeting held during the same period and have their travel expenses covered by another organization will not be eligible for Travel Grants.
